Belong Together

If bread and butter go together,

And so does the moon and the stars,

Will I, too, belong with someone,

Or will I always belong with my scars?

If sharks eat fish,

And out is the opposite of in,

Will happiness always be the opposite of me,

And will blades always eat my skin?

If apples and oranges are metaphors for different,

Then why are they both fruit?

Will I be too different for the one I love,

And will he give me the boot?

If music and dancing go together,

But Technology and life do not,

Will my love and I belong together,

Or will he leave me to rot?

If Honeymoons always follow marriges,

And honey belongs to a bee,

Will I always follow my love,

And will he belong to me?

If cable belongs with TV,

But not all people have both,

Will I ever belong with the one I love,

Or will our souls be gohsts?

If murder and blood are one in the same,

And death and sadness are never far,

Will my life continue to circle around death,

And will I continue to murder my heart?

The inspiration for this poem came from very deep in side my heart. It is mostly about my struggles with life and love, but I am glad to say poetry has helped me through

Wow. This is a great use of metaphors! I like how you incorporated all the questions. This is very touching and creative. I'm glad poetry has been able to help you through, I've always thought poetry has the power to heal. And sometimes you find love in a hopeless place :)
