Favorite Quote:
"Life is understood backwards, but can only be lived forwards."

Instead of laugh,
I cry and pray.
Why’d you do it?
You ran away.

Was your water not fresh enough?
Did you not like the food in your bowl?
Was your dog house not plenty warm?
Still under that fence you dug a hole.

Oh puppy how I loved you so.
Your escape has filled me with hurt.
What’s dad doing in the distance?
Is he burying something in the dirt?

The author's comments:
My assignment was to "write a sad ballad". I'm not a very sad person, therefore I tried to make the poem sort of cute and funny, but at the same time realistic. Don't get me wrong, I love animals.
