Impossible

I pass a lowly shepard’s lea
On days as cold as I can be
When I have not a rosy cheek
Nor simple smile to spare
I watch two children climb a tree
They’re full of possibility
That’s something I will never be
As long as I shall live
Should I wait here for eternity
Or linger on impossibly?
Why is pleasant so hard to be
When everything is fair
