Broken Wing
My golden halo has turned to gray
I yearn so deeply for my yesterday
Life has the habit of knocking you down
I've gone so deep I feel I might drown
I want to soar, I want to fly
But all my chances have passed me by
I've made mistakes, one after the other
I tried to hide them but they couldn't be covered
I wanted so badly to be something great
But it seems to me that just isn't my fate
Though I tried my hardest to make up for my past
The light couldn't escape the shadow it casts
So I'll stay in the dark, though I long for the light
I know, for me, it will always be night
I'll always have my halo to remind me
That what I want I will never be
The life I longed for, a forgotten thing
It's hard to fly with a broken wing
