Remove the Mask

Is my life a masquerade?
What is it I have to hide?
I should be more unafraid,
And face my foolish pride.

If only I had the courage,
To face my fear of others laughing.
Then perhaps I could stand on stage,
And perform, my back not turning.

I know there is no reason to doubt,
My gift that is given by God.
It’s just sometimes backing out,
Is easier than facing the odds.

Do I have the strength to remove this mask?
Or will others laugh in my face?
I know it seems like such a difficult task.
God, please give me grace.

I love acting in front of my family but whenever I do in front of other people I freak out. This poem is just some of my thoughts on that.
