Thank you for taking me in
Thank you for keeping me warm
Thank you for making the monsters run,
Even though, to your side, I was a thorn
I'm your only little girl,I wouldn't have it any other way
I'm not the sharing kind,No one will ever take you away
Thank you for pushing me up and down the aisle ways
Thank you for dealing with my tantrums, fits, and tirades
I know I've done some major wrongs, I know I've had some stupid thoughts
I hope I haven't let you down or gotten all your hopes up
I pray, in the end, I've done you right,Exceeded your highest dreams
No one will ever compare to the man whom I always stared.
Thank you for keeping me safe & for kissing my wounds when I got hurt
Thank you for entertaining my childish whims, everything from horsey to jungle gym
From airplane to rummy, legos to blocks
Thank you for teaching me baseball and getting me hooked
For taking me to my games & letting me keep the book
The days of me being a little girl were here and now are gone
But no need to fret, to you I'll always call for help
Thank you for the tree house and all the wild vacations
Thank you for playing catch and all the mid-day cruise'ins
Thank you for putting up with my mood, and for dealing with me when I was blue.
Our lives could have been so very different
So we must have been brought together for some purpose
me to have a one of a kind dad
you to have a baby girl to solely call your own.

The author's comments:
My father is currently fighting ALS and he's not going to win this battle. I don't know my biological father, however this man has been nothing less heavanly and a miracle to me. I wrote this to thank him for everything he has ever given me and everything he has ever sacrificed. He went through so much just to make sure that my family was able to keep me. This is my way of finally being able to let him know how much he means to me and how much his baby girl is going to miss him and how much she has and will always love him.
