I wrote your promise on my hand.
I hope it lasts.
I hope it stands.

And if somehow I lose my way,
I'll check my hand
and be okay.

When I wrote your promise
on my hand,
I wished it'd last.
I thought it'd stand.

Yet oddly now,
it's rinsed away.
But you're still here.
I'll be okay.

And don't you worry.
It helped me out.
More than you know.
Without one doubt.

The author's comments:
This was inspired by a really good friend of mine, who's been there through the worst. I don't know what I'd do without him, and I'm so glad I met him.

It was very sweet and symbolic.  The rhythm touched the meaning of it to me.

I actually like this a lot because a while back a boy told me something that I really liked, so I kept rewriting it on my hand for about a month. Recently I've stopped, but seeing it every day like that has helped me a lot.

This poem really spoke to me, and it shows me how much the relationship between you and the person this poem's for means to you. I love this, and I've read some of your other works and you're really good! Keep it up, and I'm sure your writing will get you somewhere. :)
