the one that got away

The sock lurks in my trunk for over a year under a bunch of fishing gear and baseball clothing.
My mom says, “clean out your car.”
I say, “no.”
The sock stays there on road trips. I finally cleaned my car out, the sock was gone it was the one that got away.
