Ms Diamond said,
Go home and write
a page tonight.
And let that page come out of you---
Then, it will be true.
I wonder if it's that simple?
I am fifteen, female, born in town which name you can’t pronounce.
I went to school with awful teachers and horrible classmates, then here
to this school in South Florida.
I am the only Russian student in my class.
Went out from the weight room, ran to the bus.
Oh no, it’s full of Chinese. Again.
I can’t breathe, I can’t sleep, I can’t think.
They always here. Almost everywhere.
I came to the dorm, it’s full of them.
I can’t eat, I can’t read, I can’t think.
They always here.
Prep time is coming, I’m living like in a film.
It’s called “Groundhog day”.
Still, I need to study, so
I sit down, and write this page:
It's not easy to know what is true for you or me
at fifteen, my age. But I guess I'm what
I feel and see and hear, Florida, I hear you:
hear you, hear me---we two---you, me, talk on this page.
Me---who?
Well, I like to eat, sleep, drink, and be in love.
I like to read, run, ride, and understand SSAT.
I like to go to the beach,
And being myself.
I guess being russian doesn't make me NOT like
the same things other folks like who are other races.
So will my page be colored that I write?
Being me, it will not be white.
It’s being red.
Red is color of brave. Red color is color of fighting.
Red color is my memory of being against my government.
Red is color of being yourself.
Red is all about me. And you, since you read my poem.
It will be
a part of you, instructor.
That's being a person of the world.
We are, that's true!
As I learn from you,
I guess you learn from me---
although you're older
I’m younger, and Russian, and I like red.
Now I need to go - fight Chinese for my piece of food.
And drink black tee
This is my page for English B.
