You are not good enough..
I do not believe that
you are beautiful.
Your crooked smile is the exact opposite of what's considered pretty
it is not true that
everyone will love how you dance in the rain.
No acne, stylish clothes, and a bikini body.
You don’t need to have,
Baggy sweatshirts, and feel-good sweats.
you have to be perfect,
I refuse to even slightly accept that
you might fail.
You are a disappointment,
I do not see how
you can have confidence with thousands of broken feathers.
Be like your sister,
you do not have to
love who you already are.
You’re worthless
and you’re lying to yourself when you say that
you’re god’s gift.
You are not good enough,
I do not believe that
you are my daughter..

Which one’s true, is up to you. Just remember we all have flaws, and scars. Yet, we shouldn’t let them reach our hearts.

The author's comments:

This piece is about any kid that's ever felt they're not worthy of their parents love. Needing each day to be better than they were yesterday, and striving to look and act like everybody else. Thinking you're not good enough, and hating yourself is awful. The weird thing is, I've experienced both. The first part of this poem is about me, and how I couldn't look in the mirror without crying at what I saw. In the second half I realized, I don't need to be perfect and that my parents love me for me. This is for anyone that doesn't love themselves. Just know there's always someone that cares about you, and who loves you.
