Panic Attack

November 14, 2017

I am an ocean of anxiety;
drowning in the hope that one day
Waves won’t crash over my head
Like opportunities I can’t hold on to

As I sink farther,
The pressure in my lungs builds
People watch me suffer as they swim on by
The water hides my heavy stream of tears

Children laughing, splashing
I wonder why they don’t see me gasping for air
Carrying more weight than my own
I forget how to tread water

I love how she uses something most people have experienced to describe anxiety, which can be hard to explain.
