To order dessert or to not order dessert, that is the question.
Whether ‘tis finer for a tongue’s taste buds to savor
A sweet confectionary treat, with layers of molten, melt-in-your-mouth decadence,
Or to request the final check, in turn bypassing the sugar-filled dish, thus avoiding
A bloated-belly, obesity, acid reflux, and the rotting of thy teeth.
To not order this succulent, sacchariferous clincher course
Would grant me a healthier lifestyle, lowering my caloric
Intake. If I would, I may never become much fatter than I am at this very moment
And maybe I’d even evade an inevitable dependence on this chocolate.
Ay, there’s the rub; chocolate is what I crave at the
End of each day. I am already addicted to this sweetmeat and
Rightfully so. There is no reason I or anyone shouldn’t enjoy moist, luscious,
Mouthwatering delicacies like bonbons, brownies, layer cakes, pudding pies or truffles.
For who would pass up the opportunity to feast upon such creative chocolate confections?
Why don’t we all just choose not to bespeak of and gobble up these sinful desserts,
For they are unhealthy, and we should
Never consume such turmoils and plagues to the human body!
But, after all, ‘tis the scrumptious sonata in the symphony of the meal. A bite out of
Any goody with chocolate is an array of explosive flavors that dance
Pleasantly on the tongue. How could anyone, even God himself, resist the overwhelming urge to Devour such a delightful food that feeds the soul and fills it with joy?
Hark, here comes my waiter. To order dessert it is!

The author's comments:

I was inspired by Shakespeare's soliloquy, "To Be or Not To Be" from Hamlet to complete an assignment for my senior English class.  Chocolate is my favorite dessert, so I focused on that as the subject. I hope readers will understand why I choose to eat at least one brownie every day.
