sunflowers
Swaying from the breeze, dressed in a saturated yellow
The sunflower bakes underneath the sun
The world feels still
But my thoughts endlessly whirl
My feet drag in the dirt as I approach these intimidating stems
I lift my chin to the sky, wind chills the top of my skin
Overwhelmed by its beauty, goosebumps rise
I lose traction and fall on a bed grass
Weight falls over me as my eyelids grow heavier
I’m overtaken by exhaustion
Falling into a deep sleep, in seconds I am out like a light
While I travel from dream to dream
I noticed a common pattern of sunflowers
Suddenly, rain along with various sized petals
