Amid my battlefield
My heart is bridled
By unbreakable barriers.
Amongst the chaos
I lay down my weapons.
Like a child I'm distracted;
Like a flower I find you
Unscathed from hostilities.
And now all that surrounds me
Whispers a hush.

The author's comments:
Only a year ago I found myself in all sorts of trouble; fighting, drinking, getting arrested and basically I cared about nothing. I don't blame my childhood, I don't know what to blame. But all I know now is who to thank. This poem portrays the result of a girl who 'showed me the light', so to speak.
