"These woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep." -Robert Frost

The silence is deafening, it's ringing in my ears
I haven’t heard this kind of quiet for thousands of years
It’s captured my soul, I feel it taking control
I’m being pushed over the edge, I’ve fallen in the hole

It won’t stop, I’ve pleaded for an end
The silence wants to stay, it refuses to bend
Please, won’t you leave, I can barely stand
The quiet is like a slap to the face, a ruthless backhand

You’re tearing at my ears, ripping up my heart
Please go away, you’re splitting me apart
I yearn for a voice, anything will do
Blaring trumpet horns, even a simple cow’s moo

I’m done for, I know
I hear no sound, not even the soft falling snow
I’m speaking, I’m trying
I couldn’t hear a word, not even my own crying.
