The child, kind of different than before,
Has chosen to live a life without a pay.
The overwhelming choice to close the door.

He once was filled with drive and knew his way.
His will to be the best that he could be
Would drive him to live on another day.

But now, he looks ahead and tries to see
A way to save himself from his sure fate.
The drugs and alcohol will not agree.

He is giving his all with every date.
Although he wants to more than anything,
He cannot climb out of his lowley state.

He prays to be an angel, softly sing,
But addicts never seem to win these wings.
