Blink

By , Blauvelt, NY

Words roll off their tongues
and whispers dance through the hall
No one knows what’s real
Until all hearts fall
Blink
In an instant like a fire
it spread through all the rooms
could this actually be true
an ominous thought looms
Blink
One minute there
the next gone
tears streak the floors
and act as a new dew upon the lawn
Blink
Everything changed
the people and the place
something is still off
a missing face
Blink
The moment is gone
but not forgotten
something once sweet
now so bitter and rotten
Blink
Now engraved in our minds
we push on forward
the deed is done
the casket is lowered
Blink
How do we change
prevent it in the future
let your feelings out
rip off the suture
Blink
Don’t whisper in rumors
tell what is true
then this won’t happen
to me or you
Blink
