some say
don't mean a thing
But dreams mean
the world to me
They're rising stars above the
gloomy horizons of reality
They make my mind
come alive
with all their possibilities
They're the sparkle in my eye
and when I look around
All I can say is
I'm so glad we can dream
A way of making up for missed opportunities
A way to visit places we might never see
So I stare into space
more and more these days
my mind a thousand miles away
in the world that belongs to me
and myself alone
Last thought before I fall asleep
I'm so glad that we can dream

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem a couple of months ago, and I just recently found it in one of my notebooks. It's a piece about dreams, but what I wanted to get across the most is the creativity that comes from dreaming. Dreams can motivate people to achieve their goals, and I think that there are a lot of people who don't fully appreciate the value of imagination.
