Waking Up
As the sun perks up,
As my alarm sings,
I wish not to wake up,
From these endless dreams.
I hit snooze once,
I hit snooze twice,
Wishing this day,
To be erased from my life.
Snug, warm, and cozy,
Under my blanket and wool.
Leave my bed in December?
Just call me a fool.
I peak out my window,
And what do I see?
Ice shrouded sidewalks,
Snow glistened trees.
The veracity of winter,
So harsh, brutal, and vile
Frozen pipes, frostbitten hands,
Think I'll just lay her for awhile.
As I start to stand,
My body aches,
Might as well have a fever,
Clammy hands and the shakes.
I ponder about traffic,
With accidents abound.
Today I'll ring in sick,
Lay in bed safe and sound.
