The darkness creeps,
The stairs creak
My eyes flash open
Moonlight streams
I see you there,
But I can't scream
Why isn't there sound,
What have you done to me?
Those black wings,
Those cold dark eyes
Your pale skin,
The horrifying lies.
My heart beats faster,
Fear courses through my veins
My breathing quickens,
My lungs refuse the air.
I see Death
I hear his fatal silence
There are no tears
Only violence
Why do you do this?
Why is it me you like to scare?
I'm so afraid of you,
The angel of my nightmare.

The author's comments:
Because of past events, I have terrible nightmares every night. I practically have to make myself go to sleep. Fear has ruled a lot of my life, and the people who commited horrible crimes against me have not been punished for what they've done. Where's the justice that every American citizen is entitled to?
