Empty Words
I love you,
I love you,
he pleads in choked sobs.
I need you,
I need you,
his cries get more desperate.
my life hangs on the edge,
the edge of a building,
Please!
Please!
His voice so miserable,
it hurts my heart.
No!
He screamed in one desperate last cry
The tears cascaded down his cheeks and mine.
So sorrowful he looks,
but his eyes do not lie,
Pure daring in his eyes.
Jump!
Jump!
They scream at me.
I take one last step,
and he gives a battle cry,
I love you!
He howls,
so heartbroken and forlorn
But I know the truth,
For his eyes do not lie.
The words he utters are empty.
They are nothing but empty words.
