I awoke with a gasp.
a gasp of fright
a gasp of fear
a fear of the night
a fear of tears
I awoke with a shudder.
a shudder of weakness
a shudder of sweat
a sweat of meekness
a sweat of debt
I awoke from a nightmare.
a nightmare of drowning
a nightmare of pain
I'm drowning of downing
am I going insane?
I did not awaken.

I'm gasping for breath.

breath of dishonor
dishonor and belief
dishonor, I'm a goner
I'm escaping this place.

place of vantiy
vanity and scathe
