This Caramel-Skinned Boy

Underneath the buttercream moonlight
I watched his silhouette flicker like a firefly
against the sleepy, velvet sky
I was knee-deep in
butterfly kisses
and this caramel-skinned boy
His long, charcoal lashes
dripped gold
and his wide, skeleton eyes
left me in a dizzy illusion
an illuminating mosaic of eternity
a bubbling champagne moment
I inhaled the sticky air
and let my hair weave constellations
through the summer breeze
As I watched his dim reflection
sprinkle crystallized dreams
across the sea
I carved into the sand
'These are the fleeting moments
that make a person believe in forever.'
