dwindling on the edge of a new world
suburb stars turned bella 'beautiful' in a new light
still-framed photos encoded into the faulty camera in our minds
tracing the streets of fair Verona; home of legendary lovers
international affection made undeniable under Juliet's balcony
music making, memory making, into the night; window-listeners
a dog barks to the beat, coinciding with Vivaldi
Purpose: To make each note linger in the hearts of our spectators
Hypothesis: Applause

pizzeria and gelatarias become the bait to our fish eyes
thick, thin, pan, deep-dish, funghi?? Limone and fragola?
bending to match the degree of the leaning tower of pizza' Pisa
'the wave' in a place where gladiators once fought; YouTube potential
the power of opera voices flicker the flame of the candles in our vulnerable hands
rain-delaying clouds surrender to the luminous moon
mirroring the excitement radiating from our souls
stars seem to be within reach, atop the highest stone seats of the Collosium

stretched eyes across the brilliant Tuscan countryside, walking through marketplaces
hand on heart, hand on pocket'
vineyards and olive trees into the horizon
unfamiliar, yet radiant shades of green

Venetian water ways lined with gondolas
lake water melts into the mountains; awe engraved in the eyes of tourists
even the best camera cannot capture this magnitude of beauty
we paddle boat into the center of the lake
'Live in the moment.' we abandon our boats and jump...
rejuvenating our adolescence.

treasure this strand of memory; the subject of daydreams to come
Conclusion: Inspiration

In the summer of 2008, I traveled with the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County on an International Tour of Northern Italy. This poem is a tribute to all the memories I have made.
