Christmas, was always a puzzle or Mr. McPhinch.
It's not like he hated it he wasn’t the Grinch
His kids understood it and so did his wife
But he never quite had not once in his life
  His home town of Callaway
  Always went all out
They hung up decorations around and about
He understood the presents the gifts and the tree
But Christmas itself oh what could it mean
He thought and he thought but he just didn’t know
What Christmas meant with all the toys and the snow

His mother and father got Christmas a lot
But their son most definitely not
He disliked Christmas when it came to town
But never did say this when his kids were around

The wreaths and the holly where they just for fun
Or did they have some meaning like the moon and the sun
Was Santa important why was he there
Why did he give all those toys why did he care
He went to his wife to ask the reason
For all of the trouble during the Christmas season

She said that she knew but if he was to know
He would have to go out and look at the snow
He went outside and looked on the ground

But he still didn’t get it
  Why Christmas came to town

On the way to the store to buy one more toy
He met Reverend Moaw who was full of great joy
What does Christmas mean said he to Rev. Maow
  But the Pastor just laughed,
  “I’ll tell you right now.”

“Christmas.” he said “Is not about the snow or the toys
“Its about the birth of our Christ about giving and joy.”
And Mr. McFinch his head filled with new meaning
Ran home with with great joy and hopeful tears streaming

On his way home he shouted out loud
I understand Christmas I know ‘of it now
He understood everything he understood now
He understood why and he understood how
He did no more thinking or all that because
He knew about Christmas he knew what it was
