cocoon

The still waters mirrored
The dim light
Given off by a lone star
Your mind wonders
Leaving all traces behind
The star a guide
The water an illusion
Mystifying your thoughts
Your body immobile
Your mentality
Protected in a cocoon
That is impenetrable
Inside is an open wound
Never to be healed
The cocoon
A shell
Shielding your
Innocence from
The corrupted world
Keeping you pure
Untouched by
The menacing things
That threatens your stability
In this place
You’re on a thin line
Vulnerable to fall through
The cracks in the
Imperfect cocoon
Frightened by
The uncertainty
That lies
On the outside
