Just Walk Away
It doesn’t matter if you leave
Walk out on me; slam the door
It doesn’t cause me pain
I’m used to that
My heart is trained
Take goodbyes as hopes
And hellos as goodbyes
What makes me cringe-
Double over in fear
Is now that I’m fighting
You’re no longer here
You once said forever
But what happened to now?
The future holds promises
The present holds truths
And everyday I learn a bit more about you
All the lies shine clear
All the good times disappear
It only takes distance
To make your true intentions clear
So go ahead;
Walk out now
Make sure you slam that door extra loud
Because the next time you come knocking
Nobody’s gonna be home
