needing
to buy the newest Chanel sunglasses
and the Fendi bag
that would be perfect
except perfection is only achieved through the credit card in my hand
not the thoughts in my head
I want, no
need
to fill this deep hole in my heart with things
impressing everyone with designer labels
is the only way I know how
I fill my closet with clothes
when I should be filling my life with something real
but this is the only way I know how
or so the words on my shopping bag tell me
