The smell of Pink Pearl and other sprays permeates the air
As you walk into the cattle barn
Bunches of teens bringing their livestock out to be trimmed
Some bring the livestock out of the barn to wash them
Others are in the show ring as the judges watch them
A long line of cattle run in between the barn and the wash racks,
Some nervous and some not nervous teens
holding their cattles show halters,
As they wait for their class to be called,
Hoping their livestock stay perfect

When you walk into the barn,
You can feel the tension
The tension in the show ring is high
Teens hoping their cattle is the best out of everyone elses
Hoping that the year of work
They put into making the cattle perfect
will pay off by being crowned champion
The judges place them, one gets champion
Some might get called back for showmanship.
They all file out one by one as the judge critiques them.

The teens all wait until the classes are over
The champions all are waiting for the State Fair Line up
Making sure their livestock stay perfect
Hoping their livestock will be the best out of the rest
Hoping to land a trip

The judges place the champions in the order they like them
If the teens are lucky, they’ll get a trip to the State Fair
Everyone hopes for a trip,
They all hope they will be lucky enough to get a trip
