The Wedding Dress

Don’t look at me like that
You awful snobby wedding dress!
Please stop torturing me
With your taunting glares and mess.

I’m really truly happy for him
And I’m glad he’s getting married.
But my own wants are lashing out at me
Making me feel flurried.

Turn your frills and laces away!
I don’t want to look at you.
Stop trying to tell me
To bite off more than I can chew.

I hear your silent laughing
I see that you are happily gay
Because I can’t be the one to start
My fairytale with him today.

Oh, my time will come
Just wait and you will see.
In time I shall
Be the one to be free.

So silence your chuckling
Your muttering and stuttering
About me and my personal affairs.
Please stop for now,
Just sparkle and get ready soon
For tomorrow,
For the lucky bride and her wonderful groom.
