When You Need Me

You do not need to stay in the dark alone.
You do not have to find the way by yourself.
Because when you need me, you will have me.
Always, my lovely, you will have me.
When your fourth glass of wine leads to four hours of confession, you will have me.
You do not need to go alone.
And when your words run out and there are only tears,
I will hold you. I will rain tears with you
until our eyes dry out in the morning.
You do not have to hurt alone.
You do not need to speak to keep me.
I will not leave you alone.
My lovely, I will hold you so tight
until the demons of your past release their grip.
I will hold you so tight until your soul is new.
I will hug you so long until your heartache subsides.
I will hug you so long until this calloused shell cracks and falls away.
I will keep you in my grasp until we reach what is tender and raw.
I will keep you in my grasp until your heart is new.
Because you are worth the time, my lovely.
You are worth the sleepless nights when I wake to your need.
Always, my lovely, when you need me
you will have me.

My boyfriend of two years struggles with severe depression. He tells me that he worries about losing me because of it. I wrote this for him, so he will know that I will never give up on him

Your poem is so sincere. Its a little repetetive in places but other than that its wonderful.
