The Friend I Never Knew
Jesus sent me a friend,
We shared together great times in Heaven before our departure.
Created like me, the Creator told me we would encounter one another on Earth.
Relieved, I took my womb.
I was late for work that day,
Oblivious to what could have been.
I stared at my wife’s picture in the car.
I loved her more than anyone.
I took off,
Someone ran red, and I found myself turning, turning.
I caught sight of his face,
And I flicked my middle finger at him.
If only I had known who he truly was,
If only I had known his character,
If only I had known his love,
If only I had known he was my best friend.
