Yellow on Main

Remind me why again?
What is it I'm striving for?
I seem to have lost track of that goddamn rainbow
while I was looking for the gold
Reasons are swirling
The inevitable is approaching
And as quickly as hints of tears singe my lashes
A quick smile
swipes them away
But the slate isn't clean
it wasn't from the start
But you had a warning
didn't you?
didn't I?
I warned myself
And damnit I warned you
As clearly as I could
And you did not heed
at my cautionary tales
And, oh,
What it meant
But as you retreat
Stealthy
as you think you are
I see you
leave
But you were supposed to be the one
with his tail between his legs
so why am I
whimpering?
