Who Brought the Spirit Back?
The smell of coffee, the hot dog stand
The old man in the corner, the suited brand
The children’s park, the ice skate ring
The Old Navy store, the chorus that sings
The Santa in red, the bucket by his side
The crowd of phones that pass them by
Holiday shoppers loads with bags
Wives, girlfriends, and sisters being dragged
Husbands, boyfriends, and brothers with money
Yell across the street, “Did you find it honey?”
A pearl necklace, pretty earings to match
All in the same box, mixed and patched
It’s more about giving and less about taking
This year was one in the making
Give here, give there, give, give give
For all the years, Christmas brought cheers
This was the one that will always live.
