A Dream Deferred
Modeled after the poem by Langston Hughes

 Arizona

What happens to a dream deferred?

Do rushed people trample on it
like pesky bugs on the busy roads?
Or shrivel in the heat like a raisin--
 And then slowly erode?
Does it die like a rat devoured by a snake?
 Or put you down--
 Like an excruciating ache?

Maybe it just descends into a canyon
 like a boulder.

Or does it simply need a shoulder?
