never you see a war...

never you see a war that brings no pain
nor a fire that won't blacken and burn
when the blood begins falling like rain
horror and heartache soon follow in turn

never you see a war that brings no love
neither fire without some glowing light
when guns oppress us we gaze up above
clutching our loved ones with all of our might

never you see a war that brings no fight
nor a fire without flickers of flames
when stuck in such harsh and woeful plight
survive one must for this isn't just games

never you see a war that brings no change
to the heart, the land, the history page

I wrote this poem after reading the novel "How I Live Now" by Meg Rosoff. I strongly recommend it.
