I don’t understand

why there has to be pain, it’s hard to keep sane

why life can be so hard, why everyone lives in a junk yard

why someone can hurt another with ease and cause violence if they please.

But most of all

why people can’t just get along, it’s simple, sung in every song

why our motivation is lost, why we’re paying the cost

why we set our standards low, it’s our own virtue we’ve sunken below

why the word love is not special anymore, why we throw that feeling out the door

What I understand most is

why I need to keep him nearby, why every child has to cry

why we need to forgive, repeat apologies so we may live,

why my love for them is so strong, why we’re put here for so long,

why I gave to keep on going no matter how hard, why my heart is a broken shard.
