Blind, innocent children children
with smiles so bright,
anticipating the future
that's shrouded in light.

Soon shall face
the demon of reality,
the children grow up
in a world full of brutality.

Sadistic human beings,
a judgmental society,
the children become teens
that suffer with anxiety.

People conform
to the demon that walks earth,
society doesn't appreciate people
for what they're truly worth.

Lost and confused
unable to breathe
children grow up
in a world that deceives.

The author's comments:
Memories of being a child has inspired me to write this piece. As a kid, I was stress free and I was so happy. I was excited to grow up. Now that I'm older, I realize I face daily problems that make life so much more difficult compared to when I was a kid. Although there are benefits to growing older, I still hope that people cherish their childhoods because nothing can compare to a stress free and joyous childhood.
