A Promise

A boy laid out across the sand
A girl, she waits to meet the land
The sea is calm, the storm has past
The girl, she knows this moment can’t last
Thinking hard of farewell words
She looked above at the sky claimed birds
Smiling softly she whispered in his ear;
“I’ll come back to you when you hear
My voice and the sea
Promise then, you’ll come find me
I don’t wish to part
Not now when you have my heart
But the water still beckons to me
Now I must return to the sea.”

I am currently working on a story and since words just seemed to be flowing through my hand all day I decided to write this poem about the very beginning of where the story takes off.
