60 feet
To remember why you fantasized about
Jumping in the first place
Because it’s slower than a
Bullet
Slower than a
Knife
More dramatic than
Pills
And it gives you
50 feet
Of flailing limbs and screaming wind
And praying to a God that didn’t exist
Until today
Since you only have
40 feet
To be rid of your sins
To cleanse your
Soul
That you forgot about until
You had
30 feet to remind yourself
That none of them deserve it
Because you don’t need
Revenge
For unconditional love
Even though you couldn’t love yourself
But 20 feet
Goes too fast when you have
47 years worth of mistakes to fix
But only
10 feet
Of life to live
And promises to break
And apologies to give to people
Who never deserved
It before now
Because you thought this would be
60 feet
Of an unlived life
And a selfish death
That makes you take back
All those
Locked doors and unused hours
Because you never
Had
The
Chance
To

This is so good! You are a wonderful writer (I also loved your poem, "Genetics")! This poem might really make people struggling with thoughts of suicide change their minds. Beautiful work!
