Flying

September 14, 2008
By Emily Marsteller, NW Wash, DC, DC

As long as you're trying
You're flying
On cloudy days, don't start crying
But keep smiling
And focus on that silver lining
No matter what, never stop fighting
Even if the thought it terrifying
Now matter what happens, keep flying
Keep trying

The author's comments:
When I started working on this poem, I realized that trying is always better than not trying. When you shoot for your dreams, your chances of achieving them aren't always great, but you do have a chance. And even if you don't make it, I guarantee you your feet will leave the ground, which is a whole lot better than nothing.
