Precussions of Affection

I wish I could tell you that pain is nonexistent,
I wish I could tell you the rain drops that fall on my window sill,
aren’t tears that angels have shed,
I wish I can say that everyone gets their happy ever after,
That everyone wakes up every morning smiling,
But its not true.

I wish I could say that he doesn’t love you,
I wish I could say that you loved him,
I wish I could say that by breaking his heart yours won’t break just a bit,
But I know that every heart is a fragile thing,
That when you wear your heart on your sleeve,
You invite pain in.

I wish I had more advice for you,
I wish I could tell you stories of my own heart,
But fearful hands hold my heart to my chest,
I wish I could wear it for all to see,
But I want to owe this world nothing,
I want no regrets or tender bruises on my memories.

But those bruises are what make the tender moments,
Just that much more beautiful,
I wish I could tell you that when I see him,
My heart doesn’t hop in my chest,
I wish I could tell you that all the guys look just as good as they did before,
I am many things, but I am no liar.

Oh my goodness, Emma. That was incredible. The last line does an excellent job of pulling the piece together; a very well-written poem. It definitely strikes the heart deeply, in more ways than one. Continue writing; good luck!

Excellent! I love the thought provoking last line. The flow of rhythm is a bit choppy in some places, but otherwise it was very well pulled off, in my opinion. Your imagery is amazing - great job!!!
