Adolescent

I am young and reckless
We are the same person
I live under the protection of my parents
I wonder who I will become
I want to be old and wise
I feel like it takes so long to grow up
And we are the same person
I understand I should enjoy my adolescent years
I try to be who you want me to be
I hope one day I have many dreams and goals
I was once nothing
And most importantly we are the same person

Adult

I am old and wise
We are the same person
Whereas I live on my own depending on no one
While I wonder when my time is up
Yet I want to be young and reckless again
Yet I feel like time flies by
And we are both the same person
While I understand I should live every moment like it’s my last
Although I try to be my own person
While I hope I accomplish my dreams and goals
Whereas I was once young
And most importantly we are the same person
