Hunger

Thin, weak, and ravenous,
Starved children barely
Muster enough strength
To search for food not there;
They soon faint
From strain and wear.

Bones peeking through thin skin,
Their shallow faces are
Expressionless and sunken;
Febble hands reach out
Searching for nourishment
Finding none about
