THE GREAT MAGNOLIA TREE
BIG TALL AND GREEN
MY BRANCHES BIG AND BROWN
SOMETIME THEY’RE PULLED DOWN
TO EVERYONE I AM A SEAT
THEY THINK I’M SUCH A TREAT
SOMETIMES IT’S A LOT OF WEIGHT
AND I JUST WANT TO STATE
I AM TIRED OF YA’LL ALREADY
MY BRANCHES AREN’T AS STEADY
IM GETTING OLD
IM NOT AS YOUNG AS WHEN I WAS FIRST SOLD
I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF THINGS
SOMEONE ALWAYS SINGS
FRIENDS ARE ALWAYS TOGETHER
IN ALL KINDS OF WEATHER
I STAND HERE BIG AND TALL
EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS SO SMALL
I AM NEVER ALONE
BEACAUSE I HAVE MY FRIEND THE STONE
MY BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS ARE WHITE
THEY ALWAYS LOOK SO BRIGHT
IM GETTING OLD AND MIGHT DIE SOON
I REALLY HOPE I CAN SEE ANOTHER FULL MOON
MY LEAVES ARE FALLING, MY BRANCHES TOO
I JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO

The author's comments:
I went to a summer camp in north carolina at wake forest university this summer and it was a lot of fun and there was a big magnolia tree that seemed very old and had bigthick branches that were down low close to the ground so everyone would go outside and lay and sit on it during break. that tree is a special memory that everyone that went will have in their heart forever.
