I have no place to go.
No home.
No protection.
No warmth.
No Love.
I have-
Nothing

I have no money.
No hopes.
No dreams.
I have-
Nothing

People stare at me as they pass.
They have no idea!
What I endure every day of every hour.
I have-
Nothing

My lack of education,
It holds me back.
From achieving my dreams,
The dreams I had before.
Before the world crushed them.
I have-
Nothing

My hunger,
It eats me alive.
The pain is unbearable.
I can’t take it anymore.
I have no food.
I have-
Nothing

I live on the side of the road,
In an alley.
Along with
the unknown creature
under the dumpster.
I have-
Nothing

I don’t own a bed
Or a blanket,
Much less a stupid
Cardboard box.
I don’t have shelter.
I have-
Nothing

The coldness,
The cruelness of Mother Nature,
As her brutal winds blow.
As they cut against my flesh.
Like a cold steel knife.

I have no family.
They disowned me.
I am homeless.
I am hopeless.
I am-
Only 9 years old.
I will eventually die soon.
All because:
I have-
Nothing

The author's comments:
This child, much like many others, have nothing. Nothing to eat, and no shelter. Much less, no love. If you would like to know more about the issue of homeless children, please visit the website of “Campaign to End Child Homelessness”
