I dream

What do I lie awake at night dreaming of?
What do I rise in the morning seeing?

I dream of a world of peace,
I dream of a world without the cries of starving children.
I see a world of disorder in one place and turmoil in the next,
I see a world of dying children.

I dream of a world with an equal education for all,
I dream of a world without flames consuming homes.
I see a world of restricted education,
I see a world of unmanageable fires.

I dream of a world with an unmistakable amount of heroism inside everyone, just waiting to be used,
I dream of a world without uncontrollable diseases.
I see a world of deception hidden beneath the very ground we walk on,
I see a world of diseases spreading with every gentle handshake.

I dream of a world where the dinner table is a place of gathering,
I dream of a world where the sounds of laughter plague the streets.
I see a world of disappearing dinner tables,
I see a world of sadness and despair.

I dream of a world where acceptance of others is the norm and never laughed about,
I dream of a world where everyone has a chance.
I see a world of intolerance and whispered judgments,
I see a world of broken dreams among us all.

I dream day after day, night after night that one day there will be a world of
safety and joy,
honesty and bravery,
charity and love.

I believe in the world and I believe this can someday happen with the help of us all,
I truly do.
