Happy Days
I look out the window of my 6th period class
thinking, “just five more minutes
just five more minutes until school is over
then I will be free for the whole summer.”
I see my teacher at her desk
looking out the window longingly
she wants it to
I tried imagining what she is thinking
“no more school
long relaxing vacations
sleeping in
no more grading essays”
she picks up a tissue off her desk
she wipes her eyes
she is getting misty
because she knows she is going to miss us.
DING, DING, DING
it is over
a whole year
everyone runs out of the room
into the hallway
smashes through the doors
runs to their bus
everyone is talking with friends
laughing
and having a great time
all of the buses honk while leaving the school
and I turn to my friends and say
“its going to be the
BEST, SUMMER, EVER!”
