We Drive on the Endless Road MAG
We drive on the endless road,
not a soul
in my vision,
only him and me.
The car,
blazing red like fire,
And small,
our seats near each other.
Music loud and lovely
Playing a song:
“You will never know,
the one who loves you so …”
He starts to sing along.
The words become a mystery.
The sound of his voice is all I can hear.
Sweet,
like the smell of a cake baking.
He puts his hand out,
and pats my head
gently,
as if trying not to break me.
But he does.
He breaks my heart
every time he looks at me,
because I know
we are only friends.
And that is all we will ever be.
We continue to drive on the endless road,
many people
in his vision:
me,
and the whole rest of the world.
