Thanksgiving
The holiday of thanks
But why, tell me,
Is there no holiday,
No day declared,
No day solely for the purpose
Of thanks,
But no thanks?
Of thanks for not helping me
When I needed you most.
Thanks for keeping secrets
Thanks for pretending
For betraying,
Lying,
For being you,
And not who I thought you were.
Perhaps the third Wednesday in November
Should be a day of truth
Then you would know
What you truly have
To be thankful for.
